Sugar Daddy No More

I have been posting quite a bit about my husband on here lately. I guess offseason will do that to a girl. We have been spending lots of quality time together so him being my source of inspiration is natural. But Spring Football started this week, so bye bye inspiration! See you this Summer!

But speaking of that husband and his pop addiction...

Yes I called it "POP." I'm from the midwest, these southerners make fun of me, so be it.

Anyway back to POP. When my husband and I started dating you would have thought he needed pop to stay alive. I'm surprised I never saw him with a Dr. Pepper IV. It was ridiculous. I am proud to say he has cut back quite a bit compared to his old habits. However, I am still trying to get him to cut back to ZERO.

I am very fortunate I am not a big pop fan. I've never craved it. I might have an occasional Ginger Ale if I have the flu. Water and I? We are besties. Now I'm not so innocent...set a galloon of ice cream in front of me and it won't last long. I definitely have a sweet tooth, but I do try to keep that in moderation.

Well two nights ago I happened to be home early enough to catch a short special on CBS evening news. This special alerted us to a new study claiming men raise their risk of heart attack by 20% with ONE sugary drink A DAY. ONE! Those extra refills at the restaurant don't seem so great anymore, huh? It went on to explain that one 20oz pop (K's go to) has 18 tsp of sugar.

So what does a good wife do?

I serve this with his dinner...

18 tsp of sugar. Why don't you just drink that honey? He didn't find me funny. I find it disgusting.

Let's see if this tough love works.

Oh the great Dr. Pepper showdown.... It's hard to separate a boy from his cokes, good luck girlie!

Mmm I love DP, but yikes - that's a lot of sugar!! You're funny in your methods. Love it.

Keep Shining,

That is very creative!
Your hubs and mine are similar in their DrPepper addiction. I've seen Allen have maybe 10 a day before and it scares me. However we started the Advocare 24 day challenge back in February and he quit cold turkey. He's had half of one since then but says it tastes different so he hasn't gone back.

Ugh. I used to drink NOTHING BUT SODA! I finally stopped keeping "my soda" in the house which has made a huge difference. Mr. Husband, on the other hand, is completely addicted to diet coke and basically drinks nothing else. It's sickening.

Yuck! That is awful! I only drink diet, and not even every week. I like water or wine... hahaha. And yes, I think it is funny you call it pop, because in Texas we call it all Coke! Weird, I know!

No matter how long I have been away from the Midwest, I can't NOT say pop. Even the rest of my family says soda now after moving to the east coast. You could say I'm stubborn...

I used to be a huge pop drinker(it is definitely pop not soda) and 4 years ago I gave up all caffeinated drinks. It did wonders for my health!

First of all-- that's hilarious. Lol. Second-- 20%?? Holy crap. And finally-- this is totally off topic, but I looooove that glass! Where did it come from??

Oh, and what is it with men and Dr. Pepper?? Donny and my dad both love it. Guess I'm going to have to break them both of that habit! ;)
