One Year Blogoversary

I have been blogging one year today! I kicked off this blog with a little accent nail action! Whoa that seems like forever ago! I started this blog to share my love for style, beauty, design, food, life, just about anything I love. And I look forward to sharing some more in year 2!

Today I thought I'd share with you 4 of my favorite posts:

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

1. My First Hot Yoga Experience - Pictures are a thousand words my friends.

2. Stand-Out Lips - I have been crazy about colored lips this year from red to pink to tangerine, I love them all!

3. My Christmas Tree! - A little early for this one, but I was so excited about my tree last year that I will be decorating it again exactly like it was last year!

4. My Husband's Language - This was one of the very first posts I talked about my husband and our relationship. Our conversations haven't changed much...

Two of my favorite style posts have been:

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

1. Sunday Brunch - I broke out the fall boots early.

2. Mixed Prints - This was one of Marionberry Challenges. I look forward to her trend challenge every month!

I've really enjoyed choosing the outfits for my style posts, taking the pictures...not so much. It is so goofy when you are taking pictures of yourself, by no means am I a model or wish to be, I just love to style. I have so much respect for the style bloggers who photograph themselves day after day. We have come across some horrible people who pride themselves in saying mean things, yet those bloggers stay strong and continue to post what they love. They are my inspiration.

My number one question I get: Who takes your pictures?

My husband. I love the job he does and I don't feel quite so awkward when he is doing it. Even if he does yell at me to smile at the camera every. single. shot. However, now that football started football has taken a higher priority than my style shoots...what the heck?

So raise those coffee mugs with me and toast to another year of Fashion, Beauty and Fun!

Animal Print in the Workplace

Leopard and Pearls

Leopard and Pearls

Leopard Skirt

Leopard and Pearls

Pearl Collar

Leopard Skirt
Skirt: Cynthia Rowley via TJ Maxx {similar here} | Sweater: Target | Pearl Collar Blouse: TJ Maxx {recent, similar here} | Shoes: DSW {old, similar here} | Glasses: Calvin Klein | Bracelets: Micheal Kors, J.Crew

This is a great way to incorporate animal print in the workplace. The monochromatic print is subtle, yet visible. The added pattern to a black skirt feels glamorous and almost like your sneaking something into your office! I added a pearl peter pan collared blouse underneath this rich colored sweater to add femininity to the look. I love the mix of animal print and pearls!

Not only am I a coach's wife, I grew up as a coach's kid...so of course I'm still cheering on my Dad's team! Head on over and vote for Hill-Murray's 2-pt conversion from Friday night. It will take 2 seconds...promise!Vote now! http://apps.facebook.com/kareelevennews/poll/vote?id=33909

Mini Gingerbread Donuts

This weekend I put Pinterest Inspiration to the test! I found this recipe from Pinch of Yum and boy was it good! I was nervous to take on a donut recipe, but since these were baked, they were easy! I did need to find a cute mini donut pan and I found one at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. What can't I find at that store? Here are my donuts...

Now head on over to Pinch of Yum for the recipe and her photos are much prettier to look at...but I'm pretty sure they tasted the same...yummy!

Stripes on Stripes with a touch of Leopard

Stripes on Stripes

Stripes on Stripes
Blouse: The Limited {recent, no longer online} | Sequin Top: F21 {old} | Black Pants: The Limited {old, similar here} | Leopard Loafers | Glasses: Calvin Klein

This is my idea of a casual Friday in the office. A great pair of knit black pants are always comfortable, yet still look pulled together. I love wearing the stripes on stripes for a different printed look and the sequin top adds texture to the outfit. I finished the look with a pair of leopard loafers, comfortable yet trendy with an animal print.

High Five for Friday

High Five for Friday

1. Tried a funky manicure...it lasted a day. I was going for Navy, it ended up a little purple. You live, you learn.

2. Date night on the couch. Nothing too exciting, but just perfect for that exhausted football coach.

3. I broke out my Hunter Boots for the first time this fall this week! Talk about rain, I thought I might have to build a boat! Because I could do that...

4. I made baked gingerbread donuts this morning...insanely good. And easy. Recipe on the blog next week (it was Pinterest inspiration at its best)

5. And lastly, my mother and father in law are in town this weekend and we are going to layer on the Carolina blue and cheer on those Tarheels this weekend!

2012 Fall Favorites

Mia's Fall Favorites

1. My first pick is two of my favorite trends in one, peter pan color AND gorgeous bordeaux color.
2. I am still having quite the obsession with black and white!
3. Currently crazy about bows! Bow earrings, bow braclets, bow rings...
4. Riding boots. It's that time of year...
5. Thin leather strap watches. I love the rich brown color AND this Fossil's large face
6. Fur vests - very glam, plus very warm!
7. Right now these are my favorite pair of pants. Skinny tuxedo pants.
8. Again with the Bordeaux - on my nails.
9. Leopard loafers. Great with black pants, colored pants, jeans or skirts!
10. Tweed jackets. I love the streamline of this H&M version, not bulky, not heavy, just right.
11. And again, Bordeaux. On the lips.

The Perfect Work Pant

Perfect Work Pant

Perfect Work Pant

Perfect Work Pant
Jacket: The Limited {on sale!} | Tank: LOFT {old} | Pant: Vince Camuto | Shoes: Preview International {old} | Bracelets: Fossil, Givenchy | Ring: F21 | Glasses: Calvin Klein

As a woman in the business world I am constantly looking for the perfect cut in a black pair of pants. I have various pairs in different styles, lengths and fabrics. I recently found this pair by Vince Camuto and was blown away! They fit perfectly in the waist, thighs and leg. They are made with very soft fabric so I enjoy wearing them! I like the flirty feel of hitting right at the ankle. Because I'm on the shorter side, I will be getting these hemmed just a bit. I believe a good pair of black dress pants will take you a long way! Hopefully on to that next big promotion, right ladies?

What cut of pant do you wear in your office?

Pepperoni Dip

Friday is here and that means we are one day closer to Football Saturday!

Today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite tailgating/game watching dips. This dip is definitely not on the healthy side, but it is very easy to make and it is a crowd pleaser!

Start by lining a pie dish with pepperoni, cover the bottom and the sides.

Next mix 2 cups of mayo, 2 cups of cheddar, 2 cups of mozzarella, one 7-9oz can of green chiles, and one medium chopped onion.

Once mixed, pour on top of pepperoni lining and smooth out the top.

Bake in a 325 degree oven for 30 minutes and enjoy with tortilla chips! Delicious!

If you are taking this to tailgating wrap in foil or keep warm in my favorite Pyrex portable carrier!

Who are you cheering on this weekend? Good luck to all of your teams!

#FNO #Belk

I kept getting lots of questions about what is #FNO that I was tweeting about last night. For those of us who weren't lucky enough to be prancing around New York City for Fashion's Night Out, Belk brought their own Fashion's Night Out to Raleigh! This included a fantastic Fall 2012 presentation by Jeffrey Thorpe, Belk's Senior Vice President and Creative Director for Jones New York. The line consisted of lots of paisley prints, fur pieces and gorgeous leather touches. I'll be honest, I had not previously shopped the Jones New York line in the past, but I am now coveting this leather top!

Here are some shots from the show, some delicious goodies they had such as Dylan's Candy Bar, Cookies, Cupcakes and Champagne! So excited TriFabb members were in attendance! We even got the chance to speak briefly with Jeffrey! My favorite thing he kept saying all night was "We love this...we love that." Well Jeffrey, We love you! Thanks for making your way to Raleigh!
