College Colors Day

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

Today I am sporting an odd mixture of Carolina blue and Husker Red. Hence, no outfit photo for you! But I could not decide. I may be living in Tarheel country, but I will be cheering on my alma mater this weekend from afar!

What colors are you sporting today? Going to any games this weekend? I'd love to cheer on your team too! You can find me sitting in 90 degree weather as the Tarheels take on Elon this weekend! Good luck to all of your teams!

Batman

Yes, you read that right. Post Title: Batman. I'm going to link up this post with It's OK Thursday, because I keep telling myself "It's OK!"

It's OK:

That my husband and I got into a little argument this past weekend.

That it was fueled by lack of sleep, grumpiness and hormones

That as my husband's apology he surprised me the next night by taking me to....The Avengers.

Yes, The Avengers. So this is what I believe to be his thought process....

Before the fight broke out between us, we had a lovely evening finally viewing The Dark Night Rises. I love Batman, I always have. The movie was great! After the movie, on our drive home I went on and on about how much I've always like Batman. How much I thought the movie was SO cool, I'd see it again. He didn't know any of this about me. How could his girly girl wife be soooo into a superhero? So I thought we probably should go home and watch The Dark Night, just to refresh the story line. Well then completely off topic....our fight broke out.

SO the thought process....as an apology, he surprised me with The Avengers because I believe he now thinks his wife is some crazy Superhero loving groupie. And that is just not true. The Avengers was ok, I was more pumped to spend some quality time with my man. Well he fell asleep during the movie...

But the moral of the story, I'm setting the record straight, I'm not a superhero junkie. I just like batman. That is it. That is all. And to share with you a fun photo. My love for batman started young....with my sidekick Marlo. My sister. I'm sure she'll be ecstatic I'm sharing this with you. Me Batman. Marlo Robin.

Now you can all laugh and enjoy your Thursdays. No, I don't wear anymore Batman accessories or costumes of any kind. Hence, no Batman outfit post. And I don't live amongst Batman posters or paraphernalia of any kind.

Statement Necklace

Dress: 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent via TJ Maxx {outstanding find!} | Shoes: Guess {on great sale!} | Necklace: Baublebar {this one no longer online, similar here}| Watch: Michael Kors | Glasses: Calvin Klein {very similar here}

Linking up with Marionberry Style for The Trend of the Month Challenge: Statement Necklaces

This is my favorite statement necklace I own. The metal is neutral enough to wear with lots of looks, yet the overall necklace is stunning. Baublebar does a wonderful job with their accessories. If you haven't ever tried Baublebar before, your first purchase is eligible for $10 off! You can't beat that.

I believe statement necklaces can be worn with a plain tshirt or a glamorous dress. They will be whatever you need them to be for your outfit. I've even seen a few looks where they double up on statement necklaces and it looks fantastic!

Blue Lagoon

Shirt: Kenar via Marshalls | Skirt: The Limited {last seen here, major sale in white and khaki here} | Necklace: NY&Co | Shoes: Target | Watch: Michael Kors | Glasses: c/o Firmoo

Firmoo.com, a global online optical store, sent me a pair of sunglasses to try out. I am a sucker for large Jackie O. frames. This certain pair had all the qualities I love. The delicate tortoise shell was gorgeous, the large frames gave me the exact coverage I want and the glamorous details made for an interesting touch to any outfit! The quality of the glasses were great. I know they will live up to any beach day I take them on!

Here is a close up of the glasses:

High Five for Friday

Today I am linking up with Lauren from "From My Grey Desk" for her weekly High Five for Friday.

Photobucket

1. Today my baby sister, Macy, is running in the Hood to Coast relay out in Oregon. The Hood to Coast is the largest relay in the world! The race is 199 miles long. There will be over 1050 teams made up of 12 people. I am so proud of her and will be cheering her on from over on this East Coast! Her leg of the race will be 17 miles! Her fiance will be driving her team's van, so I hope he gets lots of good pictures and I'll share them later!

2. Found this little guy at F21. Love how fun it makes my outfits.

3. Watched this movie last night. Hilarious! I loved it. It was funny, cute and heartwarming.

4. Finished these books in 48 hours. Looking for a really good fast read, I completely recommend! These books were funny, sad, heartwarming and overall can't put it down book!

5. Since the husband is gone and I'm left alone to fend for myself, I make things like bruschetta for dinner! He wouldn't touch bruschetta with a ten foot pole. So I definitely savored it...

I know I am only suppose to pick 5 things, but I had to add one more. My grandparents came to visit me this past weekend. We had so much fun doing all the touristy RDU stuff! This is us in Duke Gardens.

We had our TriFABB launch party last Thursday and let me tell you, it was amazing! Not because something big and shocking happened, but because the most awesome people showed up!

The above bags were made by fellow TriFabb member Lindsay Gaines. Below are the Cupcakes from our sponsor Sugarland in Chapel Hill. I had an espresso tasting one that was sooo good and then took a chocolate banana one home for the next morning that was even better! Yes, my breakfast of choice is cupcakes and coffee.

New Life to an Old Dress

You know that dress that you have hanging in your closet that you have already worn a million times? Yes a million times. The one that still fits pretty darn good, but the pattern or style may not excite you anymore? I have that dress. I have a few of those dresses. Being in a workplace that required me to dress up for so many years, I accumulated fashion that may not mesh with my style now.

I am trying very hard to stay budget concious. (See babe, I confessed it on the BLOG. That must mean it is real!) So I am trying to find ways to bring life to these older pieces of clothing. Especially since they still fit correctly.

Here is my first look: Crazy patterned dress brought back to life by a bold berry hue.

Dress: Dillards {very old} | Blazer: Part of Anne Kleine Skirt Suit {very old} | Shoes: Preview International via Nordstrom Rack {old} | Bracelets: Kenneth Cole {old, but loving these new metals for fall!} | Glasses: H&M

When bringing new life to this dress I was very lucky I actually found older pieces to incorporate into this look. I guess you could call this a closet remix!

My one piece of advice for the day: Go dig in your closet! You are bound to find something that you can make work and wear it in a way you've never worn it before!

Happy Anniversary Mall of America!

Photobucket

Tomorrow marks the 20th Anniversary of The Mall of America. Have you ever been? Minnesota's claim to fame is the site of The world renowned Mall of America. For the locals, such as myself, it was just the closest mall we frequented. I am now living in North Carolina, but I look back on all the good times had by The Mall of America. From shopping to amusement rides, it was a one stop shop!

The Mall of America draws 40 million visitors each year!

Fun Mia Fact: I was there with my Mom and Sisters the VERY first day it opened. I cannot believe it has been 20 years because I still remember that day very vividly. I guess this is where my fashion obsession started, I'll blame my mom. Here we are posing with our opening day balloons...

Back in 1992 we were on the hunt for beanie babies.

Today in 2012, I beeline to the third floor Nordstrom Rack.

Oh how times change...

*If you are in Minnesota go to their webpage, they are offering 20% off at 30 different stores just for tomorrow! I wish I was there! And the best thing about shopping in Minnesota, NO sales tax on clothing! Couldn't we all be so lucky?

Reporting to Football Fall Camp

Today I said goodbye to my hubby as he went off to fall camp. Today is the day to report. Goodbye is a little dramatic, he will be back home...but pretty much only to sleep. I will be sleeping when he comes in and I will still be sleeping when he leaves.

So in true reporting day fashion....

It's OK:

That I've already killed two spiders BY MYSELF this morning...it's like they KNEW he was gone!

That I need to relearn how to take out the garbage BY MYSELF

to Be grateful I don't have a lawn, because I'd have to mow it BY MYSELF

to Spend some serious time on Pinterest meal planning for ONE

to Warn my friends and their husbands they are about to inherit a THIRD WHEEL

to Be bummed I've lost my Saturday/Sunday pool buddy

to Be sad the maker of the best quesadillas in the world is going to be be gone for dinner for the next 4 months.

to Think the only positive, is I get full control of the remote at night. AND I don't get a big ol' UGH when I turn on Dance Moms!!

See you later Man Friend!
