It's Ok Thursday

It's OK:

To hate to get my hair cut and colored because I can’t stand to sit in the same position for 3 hours

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

Since I hate sitting in one position for 3 hours I’m the annoying office chick who walks around in heels constantly all day making lots of click click click noises

To love dressing up every day, but I am in yoga pants and a sweatshirt within 2 minutes of walking through my door at night

To have a husband that has to leave you post-it notes to remind you to run the dishwasher in the mornings

To “tattle” on my neighbors in the apartment complex because I can smell their marijuana seeping through my door! Gross!

To have a new found obsession with Baublebar

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

To have downloaded picfx app and now want to take pictures of anything and everything. I’m annoying again.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Thursday. I am thankful this week has flown by! I get to see Joey this weekend and a good friend from high school! Yay for visitors!

One thing I wanted to share with my readers is I have recently been talking with Crystal from Life According to Crystal and she has had an amazing idea of starting an online magazine! She is looking for different blog contributors from all over! Let me know if you are interesting in contributing and what kind of topics you’d be interested in writing about!

Puppy Chow Birthday Cake Style

I wanted to make something fabulous for the basketball games this past weekend. Pinterest is the place to go for all things fabulous. I have had several friends pin the Birthday Cake Puppy Chow and I had to try it.

The certain recipe I went with is from Camille over at Six Sisters' Stuff.

This recipe only needed a handful of ingredients: Chex, Vanilla Almond Bark, Funfetti Cake Mix, and Powdered Sugar.

The melting takes a few minutes

Great excuse to use my monster spatula from Rachael Ray

Mix and chow down!

This was delicious! And very hard to only eat a few pieces, so beware!
What did you guys make this weekend?

PS: Are you guys on instagram? It has become my new obsession, you can find me: msmiamaree

I'm also participating in Neely and Amber's Link up It's OK Thursday:

It's OK:

To take your husband to The Hunger Games even though he has no idea what it is about and you know he is going to hate it.

TO wish you could wear your favorite tangerine blazer 5 days in a row without getting weird looks

To feel like you have to go longer and harder in cycling class when you get stuck with a bike in the first row, RIGHT next to the instructor and then you can't walk the next day

To have 5 different email addresses because you like to keep things organized, but then forget to check them all!

To really convince yourself you've been saving lots of money, but then you go shopping...eeek!

To treat yourself to a lunch outside, 85 degrees in March? Yes please.

To have 3 different getaways planned for this summer, but not have enough days off of work...ahh!

To spend countless hours planning how to get those days off of work...

To hope the rain holds off this weekend so I can go to a baseball game

To know I'm unrealistic because it rained on my beach weekend last weekend!

Neon Challenge

WARNING: This challenge may get a little bright!

I am joining sweet Marion from Marionberry Style in her all new monthly trend challenge link up!

This month's challenge? NEON.

Neon and I do not get along very well. Especially Neon and my pasty white skin. So I decided on a black dress with neon accents. This is much more my pace...

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App
Dress - Gap (last year) | Scarf - Target {here} | Belt - Target (In stores) | Watch - Michael Kors {here}
Bracelets - F21 {here}, Tiffany & Co necklace wrapped {here} | Shoes - Guess {similar on sale}

How about you guys? How are you wearing this trend?

Advice:
If you are not the biggest fan of neon like I am, go for inexpensive pieces to add to your collection. Hello Target! Then there isn't a big commitment!

Thank you Marion for another great challenge!

A Whole Lot About Me

So today you are going to get a blast full of me! I have been "tagged" by a few ladies with different questions and I am finally getting around to answering them! Blame the rain, I'm stuck inside! So Marion and Emily I apologize for the delay, here they are!

1) Favorite Color: Pink. Hands down, always been a big pink fan.
2) Favorite Animal: Dogs. Sweetest things. Help me convince my husband I need one!
3) Favorite Number: 3
4) Favorite (non-adult) drink: Hot chocolate!
5) Facebook or Twitter? Twitter, quick and easy! Facebook has become too complicated and buggy.
6) Passion: Family, Fashion, Football....in that order.
7) Giving or receiving presents? I love giving presents, because I think it brings people great joy, but that is because I know it brings me joy when I receive gifts! It is a two-way street!
8) Favorite Pattern:Right now I am seriously crushing on trellis prints! Hello blog design!
9) Favorite Day: I love love love Thursdays. Weird I know. But I love knowing there is only one more day left in the week. My husband is usually home at a decent time and I love Thursday TV!
10) Favorite Flower: Asiatic Lilies!

From Marion's List:
1) What is the best gift you've ever received? My engagement ring (mushy)
 2) What color best describes you and why? Pink. It can be used is so many ways, soft, elegant, girly, sophisticated, bright, loud. That is me adapting to so many different people and places!

8) Which would you prefer and why: A vacation with lots of excitement and go-go-go OR a relaxing vacation centered on recharging the batteries? I need a relaxing vacation. One where I can get totally bronzed and read as many books as time allows.
9) What was the name of your first boyfriend? Eric
10) What is your drink of choice on a ladies night out? Cabernet
11) What is one goal you hope to accomplish for yourself this year? Saving money! I know my husband will smile and/or laugh at this one. Hey I am trying! I also set a goal to learn how to sew. I learned! I just need to get past napkin making :-)

Fashion Inspiration - Freida Pinto

Today I want to share with you one of my favorite fashion inspirations, Freida Pinto! She is the definition of grace and beauty. I love how she wears her fashion with effortless ease. Her makeup and hair are always natural and not overdone. No, I do not wear ballgowns in my every day life; however, I use Freida's inspiration to teach me "how to" wear my clothes and the grace to make an outfit work.
Here are some of her most recent looks and some of my favorites! When I get a magazine in the mail, Freida is someone I hope appears in the given issue! I hope she can inspire you too!

Dear Rain and Clouds

Dear Rain and Clouds,

I have convinced my husband to take me on a day trip to the beach tomorrow if you two will just hold your horses. If you want to cloud my sky and rain buckets all day long today, that is JUST fine. But please make sure to move out by 9:00am sharp tomorrow morning.

I want to see this:

and I want to be wearing these:

And be listening to one of my favorite "beach songs"

Please and thank you!

Love Mia.

Who is going stir crazy this week? I am. It has been 85 for the past 3 days and I've been stuck instead at a desk. This girl needs some serious vitamin D from those luxurious sun rays!

Hope you all have fabulous weekend plans!

Sugar Daddy No More

I have been posting quite a bit about my husband on here lately. I guess offseason will do that to a girl. We have been spending lots of quality time together so him being my source of inspiration is natural. But Spring Football started this week, so bye bye inspiration! See you this Summer!

But speaking of that husband and his pop addiction...

Yes I called it "POP." I'm from the midwest, these southerners make fun of me, so be it.

Anyway back to POP. When my husband and I started dating you would have thought he needed pop to stay alive. I'm surprised I never saw him with a Dr. Pepper IV. It was ridiculous. I am proud to say he has cut back quite a bit compared to his old habits. However, I am still trying to get him to cut back to ZERO.

I am very fortunate I am not a big pop fan. I've never craved it. I might have an occasional Ginger Ale if I have the flu. Water and I? We are besties. Now I'm not so innocent...set a galloon of ice cream in front of me and it won't last long. I definitely have a sweet tooth, but I do try to keep that in moderation.

Well two nights ago I happened to be home early enough to catch a short special on CBS evening news. This special alerted us to a new study claiming men raise their risk of heart attack by 20% with ONE sugary drink A DAY. ONE! Those extra refills at the restaurant don't seem so great anymore, huh? It went on to explain that one 20oz pop (K's go to) has 18 tsp of sugar.

So what does a good wife do?

I serve this with his dinner...

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App

18 tsp of sugar. Why don't you just drink that honey? He didn't find me funny. I find it disgusting.

Let's see if this tough love works.

Neutral Zone

Neutral Zone

Neutral Zone by msmiamaree featuring wedge sandals

I am summer loving girl that could walk in heels just about anywhere. But what is more comfortable than a heel? A wedge. I love the height I can gain from a wedge and they are so comfortable to walk long distances in. I can also make them work with a maxi dress, shorts, or skinny jeans.

My favorite type of wedge is a neutral wedge. I can wear these babies with bright pops of color or a summer white. I am all about the versatility.

Bring on the warm weather!

My First Fashion Intervention with my Husband

I may have mentioned my husband and I can be described as night and day. He grew up in a family of all boys and I grew up in a family of all girls. So we definitely had our learning curve in this relationship. One thing that has always remained on the table is my love for fashion, accessories, and beauty.

So rewind back to the days of our engagement. This football coach had been wearing the same eyeglasses he has worn since his sophomore year of college. Yes he was 28 at the time of this story. So I planned an intervention. We went to a local eyeglass shop and did a little browsing. I had him try on several different styles, styles that I could rip out of the latest InStyle. He gave me a look like I was from a different planet. Ah, that didn't bother me, I get that look a lot. Just give him time, he usually sees my way.

We finally settled on a handsome designer pair of semi-rimless glasses with thicker black arms. Woo. Was he gorgeous. But apparantly that is not a manly description, so I apologize he looked very football coachy cool. To this day, I love when he wears those glasses! Hottie!

Now the whole downside of this experience was the hefty price tag on those glasses. When we checked out I about passed out. I can't tell you how many purses and pairs of shoes I could have bought with the money we paid for those glasses! And then the associate precedes to tell me you have to replace these frames every few years! Unbelievable. So needless to say, we splurged, but I knew I needed to start doing my research on where I can find a better deal on glasses.

I tend to do almost all my research online, so it was easy to come across online eyeglasses. I already knew what style I liked on K.

I stumbled upon GlassesUSA.com. I was much more comfortable with their prices! Not only are their prices great, they offer some great promotions!

Right now they are offering:
Get 50% off any pair of eyeglasses on orders over $80. Code: SPECIAL50
Take 10% off any order of prescription glasses. CODE: Blog10
This will help me move some of those budgeted fashion dollars back over to my account! Thank you GlassesUSA for allowing me to order glasses online!

*This is a Sponsored Post. GlassesUSA.com offers a 110% lowest price guarantee and a 100% satisfaction guarantee along with a generous refer-a-friend program.

What I'm Working On

I've been brainstorming ways to make our living room less "boy." My husband was a bachelor before I came along and did a very nice job decorating on his own. He owned a LOT of black. But now I'm in the picture and I need to lighten and glam this place up a bit.

I wanted to share with you a sneak peek of what I'm working on

The mirror I've been lusting over for awhile

And my new friend I added to our mantel

Next I convinced K to paint our lamps the same color as our mirror

I'm trying to find a space for my mercury candle holders I still can't part with

I want to move that black couch to the basement and buy my dream white couch, but this is a long term goal.

And I NEED couch pillows.

The couch pillows have given me the biggest headache. I can't decide which color I want and I have searched and shopped and nothing has made me fall in love with a certain pillow.

Any suggestions for pillows?

My Granny

I've been absent for a little over a week now. No need for apologies, because I love my blog and I love blogging. But family has always come first and family will always come first.

Last Sunday night I got a call that my Granny had a stroke. What a stuck, helpless feeling knowing you were in North Carolina and she was in Nebraska. My Granny and I are incredibly close and this just didn't seem real. I'm so fortunate to have the kind of husband who picked up my computer and checked me into a Monday flight before I was off the phone. We are not in a position financially to make those types of purchases, but he didn't hesitate. And for that, I think I fell more in love with him than I ever have been.

I am also fortunate to be working for a company that understood my need to go to Nebraska and work remotely for the week. I'll be forever grateful to my boss and CEO.

I learned more about strokes than I probably ever wanted to learn this week. Granny is extremely fortunate the stroke did not affect her movement. She can walk and use her arms/legs freely. Her speech and swallow was affected. They call this aphasia. We were jumping for joy when she said "yes" and counted to "1,2,3" for us on Wednesday. So you can't imagine the feeling when she blurted out to my sister on Saturday "What did you do to your hair?" Granny is back! I call Granny on my way home from work a few times a week, so that will definitely be an adjustment for awhile. I told her she better get better quick for the sole purpose of keeping me company on my drive home!

There will still be lots of recovery ahead of her. She is strong and will continue to work at her speech. A little birdie told me she was able to have regular coffee yesterday without the nector thick powder they were making her use all week. Another improvement!

Events like this make you think about your own life. How you take care of yourself, how you live your life and who is the most important to you? I love the life K and I live. It is crazy, but it is our life. I hope we are fortunate to be back around our families at some point. Granny had an amazing group of friends come visit her at the hospital. She has had an impact on quite a few people! My Grandad was the most caring partner who looked after her minute after minute. We should all want that. But most of all, I know personally how I felt towards my Granny. I had an overwhelming need to take care of her and that makes me think maybe I will be a good mom someday. I know that I wish to have a family that cares for me and looks after me like my Granny does. She definitely has done something right! Even if we get occasional eye ball rolls and sighs of disgust. We annoy you Granny out of love :-)

Photobucket

Well that is where I have been. And now I am back. I tried scheduling a few posts last week while I was at the hospital. But nothing I was writing or posting would have meant very much since my heart and head were in another place. Thank you to a lot of you who reached out in support and prayed for Weasie. It means the world.
