Booties Challenge

I am participating in Marionberry Style's Challenge of the Month: Boots and Booties

Now that the temperature has dropped it is natural to grab for a closed toe shoe. I wanted to try pairing these booties with a dress for a more dressy look. I found these booties also pair well with a pencil skirt. 

Booties with a touch of surprise are my favorite. These incorporated that touch with snakeskin. I've also seen glitter used a lot this season! Remember these booties can be worn so many different ways, so I challenge you to style them with something other than your go-to denim!

TriFABB Meet-up October

TriFABB hosted it's second meet-up at Graffiti Yogurt last week. The meeting showcased some gorgeous Stella and Dot jewels belonging to Brooke. It was a great atmosphere and a wonderful setting to sit and visit and catch up with everyone and their blogs! I was even more excited to have a few newcomers that we got to know!

If you need to wear blouses to work, why not make it a fun, not overly loud print? I chose this blouse for it's rich blue and black tone and bird print. Pairing the look with gray tights softened the tone of the outfit.

Portland - Trip to Cannon Beach

Our last day in Portland was a gray rainy one, but we still wanted to make the quick trip to Cannon Beach. I'm so glad we did. This little spot reminded me of a ski town set right next to the ocean! Very rustic and beautiful. Its unfortunately it was so cold and windy because we could of hung out by the water all day! We had a delicious lunch of fried prawns and chowder. I definitely had to indulge in some salt water taffy! The husband even reaped those benefits by the large bag I flew home with me!














It wasn't a trip without a quick stop at Stumptown Coffee. I had the most delicious raspberry hazelnut scone ever!

Portland - Downtown and Saturday Market

Yesterday I shared with you our trip to the Nike Campus and Wedding errands. Today I want to share with you some photos of us bouncing around downtown Portland. It sure was chilly and rainy during our trip. I hope to go back when I can explore downtown and walk everywhere when it is nice and sunny! We got to see the Saturday Marketing, enjoy a Maple Bacon Donut from VooDoo Donuts, shop at Powell's books, and get some ice cream from Salt and Straw! I tried some Pear and Blue Cheese ice cream, sounds gross...but it was delicious! My favorite spot? VooDoo Donuts Glitter Brick Walls!



























And we ended our day at the Portland City Grill. Good food and amazing views of the city!

Tomorrow I'm sharing my last day in Oregon and we went to Cannon Beach!

Portland - Trip to Nike

Last weekend I had the opportunity to visit my sister Macy out in Portland, OR. My other sister, Marlo and my mom met us all out there! The first day we visited the Nike Campus. What a cool experience! Each building is named after a professional athlete. The grounds were gorgeously groomed and it was the one sunny day in Portland!







The point of the trip was to accomplish a lot of wedding stuff! Macy is getting married next July and we found her dress and we registered! Exhausting but feels good to have those two big "to-dos" off the list!  And I am ecstatic to report I have one stylish future brother-in-law! Look at those shoes!

This past weekend I was visiting my sister out in Portland. I don't think I left home without my raincoat! Since my raincoat usually covers my entire outfit, I wanted some part of my outfit to stick out. I chose a printed cropped pant. The print made the outfit pop and the crop helped my pant leg to stay out of Portland's puddles!

Black White and Burgundy

I highly recommend a light knit dress such as this one to pair with a nicer jacket for a casual work day. This look is an easy transition look into Fall. These mornings have been cool, but by afternoon I am so thankful I only have short sleeves on underneath the jacket. This is the time of year for layers!

And if I've said it before, I'll say it again...who isn't obsessed with oxblood right now?


On a side note...I'm heading up to Portland, OR this afternoon to visit my sisters and Mom for a girls weekend! I've never been and I can't wait to get there! I can wait for the 7.5 hour plan ride though...

Adding a leather trim to pants or a blouse gives a soft look some edge. These pants are a great edition to a night out or a Fall afternoon lunch with some friends. I have a soft spot for floppy hats, so I chose this hat for a chilly night out!

Gloves

It’s that time of year I begin to look for a pair of gloves I know I want to carry with me day in day out this winter. Call it the Minnesota girl in me, but gloves are a must accessory for the Winter, so why not make them cute and fashionable? Yes, warmth is a huge factor, but that doesn’t mean those digits need to be draped in dull.

The options I have given you above are all made from wool, fleece or leather. So the warmth factor is already built in.

Secondly, I chose gloves with bright colors or rustic style. Some I’d wear on a fun day shopping, others I’d wear for a night out on the town. Every year I always circle back around to the classic look of a Burberry pattern.

Lastly, you may ask why not mittens? I think mittens are adorable and you will definitely see me rocking my pair of football mittens on any given Football Saturday. But gloves are a necessity I wear every day. Gloves give me the access to remain mobile and functional without ripping off those mittens in chilly weather! Some companies are even making gloves with a touch sensitive finger for the touch screen lovers!

Whether you chose a low or high price point, know that gloves can be a fun trendy piece or nice investment piece. I have a pair of black leather gloves that I wear year after year and they have had barely any wear or tear. Good gloves will last you.
