The weather can't quite make up its mind here in North Carolina. So any given day I can get away with mixing fur and bare legs!

One of my favorite things about this fall/winter is the classic pieces with subtle bits of sparkle! This shirt had Mia written all over it when I saw the soft champagne colored sequin collar! This is something I can incorporate into my work wardrobe without being too flashy in the office!

We had our last football game of the season this past weekend and it was a chilly one! I usually battle the chilly games by loading on the layers!

Just a quick one today! Finally feeling a little better, but still not 100%! Thank you for all the texts and emails about feeling better. I'm working on it! It's been warm enough in NC to pull out a few early fall pieces of clothing and pair them with some of my favorite winter pieces (like my peacoats and boot socks!)

I wanted to wish everyone a safe and wonderful Holiday. Eat lots, calories don't ever count on Thanksgiving! I know I plan on having pumpkin pie for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Football Saturday // Football and Fist Bumping

Today I got the chance to catch this incredible story on ESPN's College Gameday. My heart broke while listening to the Elrod Family's story; however, I was inspired by their strength. Today I'll be thinking about and praying for this little guy Byron. Wake Forest is extremely lucky to have a little angel cheering them on today!

The Apparating Beanie

I am now asking myself if apparating is a real word...or is it a word from Harry Potter? Hmm...I do not know. But the point I'm trying to get across is that this beanie appeared out of no where!

Backstory...

I, being the best wife ever, agreed to cheer on my husband's team this evening in the mountains of Virginia freezing my tail off. I will be taking a bus this afternoon and will arrive before kick-off. I will be taking a bus three hours back and hopefully get into my nice warm bed by 4:00am. Lucky me!

However, last night as I was gathering the warmest clothes I own, I realize all of my hats or beanies were in the garage. No big deal, I'll just grab the opener and find them. Well our garage is detached since we are in an apartment complex. So the only way in is through this little bitty opener. And where is that little opener? Oh that is right...locked in my husband's car all the way on campus. And he was in Virginia. Ugh.

Well that is ok, if I time out my schedule just right I can make a quick stop at Target to grab a new hat on my way to meet the bus. And as if my husband was standing in the living room as I was sharing this thought...a UNC beanie, that I have never seen before in my life, appears on my kitchen table! All. by. itself. 

It's like the ghost of Keith Heckendorf was telling me "Woman, do not step foot into a Target. Here you go. Use my beanie." 

Well ghost of my husband...thank you for taking care of me...and thank you for blocking my trips to target...I think?

This past weekend Lindsay and I indulged in some rich sweets at a local french bakery. I chose the fresh filled cannoli and Paste di Mandorla (an italian flourless cookie). It was a perfect afternoon treat to catch up with a girlfriend!

Football Saturday // Marine Surprise at ECU Game

There are many ups and downs to the football profession, a career path my husband chose. But when I came across this video early this week I was reminded of all the things I love about football, number one being the sense of community and the way the game brings strangers together to cheer for one goal.

I wanted to dedicate a full post to what I've come across at Target this Fall. I am very impressed with what Target has rolled out to its audience. I'm not sure why...but their Kirna Zabete line is already on clearance. You are able to pick up some great pieces for an even better price! Like you saw a few days ago, I am crazy about the tweed dress. Most of the items you see above fall right around or lower than $30. I hope you are able to find a few gems of your own while browsing the Target aisles. That place gets me in enough trouble as it is....now they step up their style section! oh-no!

Classic White and Black

I will never get tired of a classic black and white look. This outfit is easily acceptable in the workplace and can seamlessly transition to a date night look. The loafer pumps add a touch of trend to the outfit without tipping it over the edge. 

The leather pencil skirt is toned down by only having a front and back panel. I've been crazy about the leather trend this season and this is one way I could incorporate it into the workplace.

Anything look new around here?

I am SO thankful for Lindsay at Jennie Called Jane Designs and her amazing work on the blog!

Today I wanted to share with you a few photos of the best birthday present I received last month...impromptu photography lessons! It is no secret I am begging for a new camera like a little kid, yet have no idea how to use one. So my best neighbors took me out the afternoon of my birthday, yes I was a third wheel on my birthday....that is why you should not marry a football coach if you have a Fall birthday, and taught me the very basics on how to use their camera.

I had no idea the detail that went into photography! Plus, the camera alone would give me an arm workout! I had such a great time and I can't wait to learn more.

Leather and Tweed

I love the sophisticated touch of tweed paired with edgy leather in the exact same piece. This dress has become such a staple in my closet during these transition weeks. It is chilly in one area, yet warm in another. I chose burgundy tights to add a little color to the look in a muted way.

My husband and I also chose to vote on Saturday. We had never early voted before, but it was much easier on our work schedules. However, we did have to wait in an hour and a half line! Oh well it was worth it.
